A Letter from Pastor Kreig concerning Four Mile Creek's Decision to List our Property for Sale and Discuss a Potential Church Merger with Another Southern Baptist Church in Escatawpa.
1 October 2024
To Our Community,
Since the early 1960’s, Four Mile Creek Baptist Church has endeavored to be an influence for the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Escatawpa Community and beyond. By God’s grace, we have seen the lost reached, lives changed, and leaders sent; we are thankful to have been involved in the Lord’s working throughout the years.
Unfortunately, over the last two decades, we have seen our membership and tithes decrease and this has placed a significant burden on our congregation as we endeavor to meet our responsibilities (salaries, debt retirement, ministry/missions giving, etc.), and be salt and light in this community.
As a result, the membership here at Four Mile Creek has decided to pursue a potential merger with Escatawpa Baptist Church. For this to happen, we are pursuing the sale of our property so that we may satisfy our debt and engage in effective ministry for the sake of the Gospel—regardless of what the next season of ministry looks like.
To dispel any rumors, I wish to make clear that we are able to meet our financial responsibilities presently and will continue to do so as the Lord enables. Second, we are discussing a church merger because we believe that a merger will enable Four Mile Creek and Escatawpa to pursue greater and more effective ministry for the Kingdom of God. Third, we are still open and still preaching Christ crucified and exalted as resurrected Lord.
Friends, it has been, and continues to be, a great honor to be in this community and to be a reflection of God’s love, grace, and mercy in the lives of many. We endeavor to remain such a force in these days and to walk boldly and confidently into the next season that the Lord has for us. Again, please know this: We are still open and we are still preaching Christ crucified and exalted as resurrected Lord.
We welcome you to join us for Sunday Worship (10:45 AM) and Sunday Prayer Gathering (5 PM) and for Midweek Bible Study (Wednesdays at 6:30 PM). We are here to serve Jesus and to make him known and we invite you to know His peace and forgiveness.
Respectfully Yours,
Kreig Todd
